Fall in Love with the Season

October 11, 2011
There’s no doubt that Fall is my favorite season of the year. I enjoy everything from the beautiful weather to the delicious fresh foods and the fun activities that go alongwith this season. Whether you’re new to the area or have been here for years, you should consider trying my top favorite activities to do in the Fall.
First of all, you MUST check out the North Carolina State Fair. I remember going when I was little and have gone every year since. I already have my day planned out so I can do everything there is without missing a beat! I want to spend countless change on rides and games, check out the local farm animals, eat enough turkey legs and deep fried goodies to get me through hibernation, and then end my night by watching fireworks. At the very least, I’ll be able to see how they’re going to top last year’s notorious Krispy Kreme Burger!
Speaking of food, some of Fall’s heaviest reminders stem from this subject. Everything from fresh picked apples to pumpkin bread and hot cider brings back my childhood memories. The best way to enjoy these foods is to get them fresh and locally. My favorite place to indulge in this is Raleigh’s farmer’s market! Spending a morning here is always refreshing; it not only gives you a chance to get some great Fall specialties, but it’s also a fun outing for the whole family! You wouldn’t want to forget to pick out a special pumpkin for carving or miss out on some local fresh apple cider!
While NC weather is typically unpredictable, the Fall weather seems to be the most steady and, personally, the most breath taking. The blistering heat is goneand the cold weather hasn’t peaked just yet. The mild Fall weather gives the perfect opportunity to embrace any outdoor activities.
The multiple parks around the area offer everything from hiking to kayaking. I’m always up for a long bike ride on the city’s bike trails, especially with good
company.Going to the park gives me the opportunity to appreciate the gorgeous Fall scenery and get a little exercise to burn off all the NC State Fair food I indulged in! In addition, the Triangle boasts three popular college football teams: NC State, UNC, and Duke. There’s nothing better than spending a day outside tailgating and cheering on your favorite team! I may not be a teenager anymore, but going to football games always makes me feel like a college student again.
The list is endless and I could obviously go on, however, Fall isn’t going to linger on forever. Soon winter’s cold air will be here, keeping you confined to hot chocolate by the fireplace. While that may not be so bad, don’t let this beautiful and fun season pass you by this year. Embrace the mild weather, the delicious fresh food, and the activities that will keep you busy for the rest of the season.
